Why I believe

“Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have.” (1 Peter 3:15)

Why I believe, trusting His Word

The Bible contains God’s words. Forty different authors, spanning over a period of 2000 years, wrote down God’s words. The Bible’s message about God and life shows amazing harmony. Naturally, this is impossible. But God’s Spirit guided the writers.

God’s purpose for giving us His words is for us to seek Him and to know Him. His words contain the words of life.

“From one man He made all the nations, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and He marked out their appointed times in history and the boundaries of their lands. God did this so that they would seek Him and perhaps reach out for Him and find Him, though He is not far from any one of us.” (Acts 17:26-27)

There are many reasons why I believe the words of the Bible. Below are some points to consider.

1. Historic and Scientific Accuracy

Archaeological and scientific discoveries have shown the accuracy of Biblical accounts. Here are some areas you can explore.

2. Literary Integrity

There are more manuscripts dating closer to the original texts than for any other literary work. God has been faithful in preserving His word. See the article Bible Preservation over Time.

3. Prophecies

The Bible has over a thousand detailed prophecies, many of which have been fulfilled. While some argue that the prophecies could have been written after their fulfillment dates, quite a few prophecies took a long time (even thousands of years) to come to fruition. This makes them undeniable. Only God could have made those things happen.

4. Testimonies

God changes lives. Read some testimonies of men and women whose lives He changed, and testimonies of Jewish people who have come to believe in the Messiah.

5. Personal Experience

As we follow God, we see Him working in our lives according to His Word. We can see from our own lives how the words of the Bible are true.

Knowing God gives me joy and peace. He gives me purpose in life. I see Him answer my prayers. He gives me love and wisdom I never knew before.

Do you want to experience God for yourself? Do you want to see how God cares for you and how He answers your prayers? Do you want to experience your own personal reasons to believe the Bible?

You will experience God as you seek and follow Him sincerely. Seek Him with all your heart and you will find Him.

“Every word of God is tested; He is a shield to those who take refuge in Him.” (Proverbs 30:5)

“You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart. I will be found by you,’ declares the Lord.” (Jeremiah 29:13)
