Meditate on God’s word

The Bible teaches us to meditate on God’s word. Let’s explore why this is important. See some encouraging verses you can write down and carry with you wherever you go.

“I will meditate on Your precepts
And regard Your ways.
I shall delight in Your statutes;
I shall not forget Your word.” (Psalm 119:15-16)

Life’s tough

We live in a world that has many troubles. If we focus on our circumstances, we can be easily distressed. Oftentimes, it’s easy to start to believe in lies and give into negative thoughts. What’s very dangerous is that our lives can be steered in a negative direction just based on the thoughts we think.

Guard your mind and chew on His words

But God provides each person a purpose and a future. He wants us to guard our minds with His truth and dwell on what’s good.

In order to do this, we need to take control of our thoughts and meditate on God’s word frequently. Meditating on the Bible is the act of taking passages from the Bible and thinking about them and dwelling on them.

This also means accepting these words into our lives, instead of concepts that contradict God’s words.

Below are some verses to help you get started. Add your favorite verses to this list and stand in His truth.

Verses to combat worry and anxiety

“He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible…all things have been created through Him and for Him. He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.” (Colossians 1:15-17)

“And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.” (Romans 8:28)

“He cares for you.” (1 Peter 5:7)

“It is a trustworthy statement:
For if we died with Him, we will also live with Him;
If we endure, we will also reign with Him;
If we deny Him, He also will deny us;
If we are faithless, He remains faithful, for He cannot deny Himself.” (2 Timothy 2:11-13)

“God is our refuge and strength,
A very present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change
And though the mountains slip into the heart of the sea;
Though its waters roar and foam,
Though the mountains quake at its swelling pride.” (Psalm 46:1-3)

“For nothing will be impossible with God.” (Luke 1:37)

I fear no evil, for You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.” (Psalm 23:4)

Verses about God’s love for you

“God makes a home for the lonely;
He leads out the prisoners into prosperity…” (Psalm 68:6)

“For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8:38-39)

“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life”. (John 3:16)

“The one who does not love does not know God, for God is love. By this the love of God was manifested in us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world so that we might live through Him. In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.” (1 John 4:8-10)

And do not lean on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He will make your paths straight.” (Proverbs 3:5-6)

“‘Let not a wise man boast of his wisdom, and let not the mighty man boast of his might, let not a rich man boast of his riches; but let him who boasts boast of this, that he understands and knows Me, that I am the LORD who exercises lovingkindness, justice and righteousness on earth; for I delight in these things,’ declares the LORD.” (Jeremiah 9:23-24)

“Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength… Love your neighbor as yourself.” (Mark 12:30-31)

Life and Truth

As you meditate on God’s word, it will strengthen and nourish you. If you follow God’s word, you will be victorious and thrive!
